Workshop on Security and Reliability Challenges in the Mobile Internet of Things

The evolving Mobile Internet of Things (MIoT) connects increasing number of mobile, intelligent, and interconnected devices into IoT, which is expected the latest technical wave in the new digital economy era that can transform business models, service delivery, industrial control, etc. The MIoT is promising at making impacts on the cost saving, productivity, efficiency, and operations of industries and a wide range of applications and services have been developed and deployed in by incorporating machine learning, big data, machine-to-machine communication and mobile technologies. As the core of digital economy, the MIoT will drive the industrial 4.0 have the potential to provide promising opportunities to build powerful industrial systems and applications. However, introducing smart IoT technologies into the mobile control systems makes the reliability and security very difficult to address.
The MIoT is an integrated complex system, in which the diversity of devices, technologies, security governances may cause serious reliability and security problems, which puts the MIoT in a tough position. The security and reliability are the fundamental for both the design and implementation of MIoT systems. Meanwhile, the operations of devices in MIoT must ensure their reliability and realize the objectives for which they designed. It is therefore clear that, the conventional security and reliability paradigms are insufficient for MIoT, which motivates researchers and practitioners from both academia and industry together to discuss issues in the MIoT and disseminate findings in a scientific research on related subjects.

This workshop aims to bring together state-of-the-art contributions on security and reliability related research works in MIoT. Topics are included but not limited to:
• Design methods of secure and reliable applications in MIoT
• Secure and trust management in MIoT
• Reliable and secure communication in MIoT systems
• Privacy data protection in MIoT systems
• Failure detection, prediction and recovery for MIoT system
• Fault diagnosis in MIoT
• Security attacks detection and risk assessment
• Privacy and security of a smart grid infrastructure
• Reliable data sensing, analysis, and integration
• Devices authentication and access control in the MIoT
• Security of industrial applications and services
• Ethics and legal consideration in the MIoT
